The feeling of hollowness
Di Letizia Rossato
It feels like burning,
Like a sensation you know is coming and you aren’t able to stop it.
It feels like a moth drawn to a flame,
cursed by the need of light that will simply make it an easy prey
It feels like a lake that is frozen,
but the ice is too thin and it’s doomed to be broken
It feels like a tree during a storm,
it won’t break,
but the wind will pick out each leaf, making it weak
It feels like a lit candle,
it’s beautiful but it’s slowly dying,
and the flame won’t burn ever again
You can’t really explain what being empty feels like,
because even words are too full of meanings to describe a missing piece of yourself.
