Friends is a popular American television sitcom that aired on the NBC network from 1994 to 2004. It won six Emmy Awards, including outstanding comedy series, and from its second season until the end of its run it maintained a top five or better Nielsen rating, hitting number one in its eighth season.
The show was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, with an excellent cast, Jennifer Aniston starred as Rachel, Courteney Cox appeared as Monica, Lisa Kudrow played Phoebe, Matt LeBlanc played Joey, Matthew Perry portrayed Chandler, and David Schwimmer played Ross.
The show follows the lives of six friends in their 20s and 30s who live in Manhattan, New York City who are either roommates or neighbours in New York City’s Greenwich Village. Much of the show takes place in the friends’ apartments as they visit one another. The program revolves around the characters’ individual and collective search for sex, commitment, and meaning.
One of the positive and noticeable aspects of this show is that none of the characters is able to fulfil their dreams. They have daily issues, which they solve with the help of their friends. It is one of the reasons friends are preferred over family due to the transactional characteristic of human life.
Another feature that makes Friends memorable is that it has so many iconic moments in the show. I mean we got the Blackout episode:
The Super Bowl episode:
The Football game:
And the bottle episode:
For me it’s one of the best tv series in the world. It is such an amazing show, that will somehow change the way you see life. It will assure you that no matter how floopy things are right now, someday everything is going to be all right. It will give you life goals, career goals, friendship goals and obviously couple goals.
Friends should be the last sitcom to watch, because it spoils you all the other so called sitcoms.
Nobody can tell you how awesome FRIENDS is. You’ll just have to see it for yourself. Although, I can tell you that you’ll never regret watching this. You’ll laugh hysterically, you’ll cry, you’ll be happy and you’ll be sad, but you’ll not regret it.
Oh yeah, just one last thing. You’ll end up watching this over and over and over again for the rest of your life.
I am quoting somebody but I totally agree with this – “If I get a wish from a genie someday, I would ask him to erase my memory, so that I can watch Friends again afresh and relish those priceless moments…”
Further, FRIENDS has been therapeutic for many individuals struggling with depression and anxiety. It may not be the greatest comedy show, but it will leave you feeling positive. And many people say that FRIENDS helped them to get better with their English.
